2023 Q3 Message from the KNC President

Our coin club is enjoying a terrific year so far. Lots of new members, great education
meetings, swap meets, and loads of lots on our action tables. We set a new record for our
September auction with 132 lots on the table. Thanks to Darryl for doing a great job as the
auctioneer, we finished the auction in plenty of time. Personally, I love a big auction
because we get such a great variety of items on the tables. Keep it going club members.

We have a very busy schedule for the rest of 2023. Mark your calendars and grab the
opportunity to join in on our club activities. November 4 is our Fall Coin Show at the Expo
Center. I will have the volunteer list at our next meeting. We have maxed out to full
capacity on tables in the show room. We now have 128 tables for dealers. Our bourse is
working on the dealer list. All tables are sold with a waiting list of more dealers that want
to be a part of our coin show. We will have the largest coin show in Southwest Michigan. We will need lots of volunteer help to set up Friday, November 3, as well as supporting the show starting early on Saturday, November 4. We received some information about recent robberies of coin dealers. Things are really getting scary for coin dealers. We need lots of coin club volunteers to be vigilant at the coin show and be on the lookout for suspicious activity or people. Especially in the parking lot during unloading and
loading. Concealed or open carry coin club members are most welcome for additional security.

Saturday, November 18, 2023, is the bus trip to the Michigan State Coin Show in Southfield-Detroit. We have a 30-passenger bus and tickets are on sale now. See Ron Hale or me to purchase a ticket. The tickets are selling out fast. The bus leaves at 8 am from the Oakland Park & Ride off I-94 as usual. We should get back around 7 pm. The coin club is subsidizing bus tickets for coin club members. The cost for coin club members is $26. Non club members cost is $46.

Saturday, December 9, 2023, 5 pm, is locked in for our annual Christmas Dinner and Gold Coin Drawing. The location is Travelers Cafe & Pub, 5225 Portage Road in Portage. We ordered a buffet dinner with a great variety of food. The coin club is subsidizing the dinner as well. Coin club members cost is $20. Non-Coin Club Members cost is $25. Tickets are on sale now – see Ron Hale or me to purchase tickets.

Questions keep being asked about how to get tickets for the Christmas Dinner ~ 1/10th ounce Gold Coin Drawing.

Here is the breakdown:
~ 1 ticket for attending each meeting
~ 5 tickets for giving an education presentation
~ 3 tickets for an article in our newsletter
~ 1 ticket per hour for volunteering to help at the coin show
~ 1 ticket for bringing in a new member & they join our coin club
