MICHIGAN STATE NUMISMATIC SOCIETY IS HOSTING A SHOW IN KALAMAZOO
At our August auction night, we welcomed board members from the Michigan State Numismatic Society. Steve Freidman opened up by sharing the Society’s desire to have their 2025 Spring MSNS Coin Convention in Kalamazoo. Many more details to follow.
This is what we know:
- The event shall take place on 7-10 May 2025 at the Kalamazoo Expo Center.
- Two clubs will host the 2025 MSNS Spring convention. Kalamazoo Numismatic Club & Grand Rapids Area Coin Club. The two hosts will split roughly $3,250 for the duties entrusted to them over the three-day convention.
- The MSNS Convention is several weeks after the 2025 KNC Spring Show. We see no interference between the two; only great publicity and growth for all clubs involved. The Society will use the large room at the Kalamazoo Expo Center. Security is provided. The same security element has been trusted by MSNS for over 40 years – Steve Freidman.
- Cases are handled by MSNS. Our club still owns 30+ cases. KNC will offer case rental to MSNS if needed.
Daily: Five members from each host club will run a welcome table by the door.
Duties:
- Check IDs
- Issue hand-written name tags
- Open doors when the show begins
MSNS holds exhibiting to the utmost standards. Excellent prizes are awarded to the individual with the most votes in each category. Between the two clubs in the form of a schedule, we need to provide a club member to watch over the exhibit area. You can be seated at the table or walk the exhibits. We need to make sure this area is free of trash, litter, and no drinks without lids. Also it needs to be kept secure. We need eyes on these prized possessions at all times.
Until we hear more, I’m excited to dream of what a three-day convention of this size will do for the hobby in our area, in Michigan, and the Midwest. We are very close to the airport. Bring on the nationwide deals
